Make the Road
Make the Road New York is taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and, for the past few weeks, we ceased food pantry operations. However, there has been a significant need in our community and we are happy to announce that MRNY is reopening our food pantries next week. We are looking for responsible volunteers who can help coordinate our emergency food deliveries to community members who are unable to visit the physical pantry location.
We are looking for volunteers to help in our Food Pantries for these days and times:
Fridays and Mondays, 9 am - 2:30 pm
Jackson Heights, Queens
Wednesdays, 9 am - 2:30 pm
Volunteer responsibilities include:
- Greeting and screening volunteers who will make deliveries around the neighborhood ("deliverista volunteers")
- Ensuring that volunteers have personal protective gear, delivery routes, and other supplies that are necessary
- Manage office space to ensure that proper safety guidelines are followed
- Help coordinate delivery routes and ensure that deliveries are completed
